Bears Lagoon piggery converts waste to electricity, heat and irrigation water

The waste from 23,000 pigs at Bears Lagoon piggery is flushed to covered anaerobic ponds. Treated effluent is used for irrigation on the farm. The methane from the ponds will be used to generate electricity and/or heating. In 12 months, methane production averaged 2110 cubic metres.
