COMING SOON – MSF Sugar – Tableland Sugar Mill
In May 2017, construction started on the new $75 million green energy power plant at the Tableland Mill, where agricultural waste will be transformed into baseload power. It will turn 100 per cent renewable sugarcane fibre known as bagasse, into green energy.
Key Details as follows:
- stand-alone electricity generation using bagasse as the fuel source – 24MW generation capacity, enough to power 26,280 homes – which is the entire population of the Tableland region
- initial fuel capability to export 16 MW for 8 months per year
- potential use of additional crops to stabilise power production for 12 months of the year – 87 bar boiler, 530 degrees C steam
