Grain harvest waste has potential in Geraldton

As part of the process of harvesting grain from Western Australia’s cereal, legume and canola crops, a significant waste stream is generated. This waste stream contains grain, stalks, chaff, husks and weed seeds.

Due to the presence of weed seeds in the waste material, farmers often rake it into windrows and burn it.

Energy Farmers Australia is investigating the feasibility of paying farmers to bale the waste material and supply it to a waste station in Geraldton where it would be converted to energy.
