Utilities and infrastructure

Access to utilities and to infrastructure such as roads and rail is important to consider at the outset of a bioenergy project. Grid connection guidelines are available from the Clean Energy Council:

• Small-scale renewable energy connection – for domestic generation units or those which use an AS 4777 compliant generating system
• Medium-scale embedded generation connection – for medium-scale generators up to 5 MW (from here you can download the Embedded generation connection guide [582 kb], essential reading for any prospective medium-scale generator proponent).
• Large-scale generation connection – for transmission network connections for large-scale projects up to hundreds of megawatts.
